
Arizona in Orvieto, Summer 2020
In Summer 2020, Classics faculty member Dr. Bridget Langley will be offering opportunities to study Classics through the Arizona in Orvieto (Italy) study abroad program.
The program dates in Italy are May 17-June 21, 2020, and the Study Abroad application deadline is February 25, 2020. The beautiful, historic town of Orvieto is only one hour from Rome. The program will include field trips to Rome and other locations in Italy.
Courses
Dr. Langley will be offering the following courses for the summer 2020 Arizona in Orvieto (Italy) study abroad program:
CLAS 222 - Classics through the Ages
Gen Ed Tier II Humanities
Description: In this course, we will explore the towns, museums, and galleries of Italy to learn how Greek and Roman myths have inspired artists, thinkers, and ordinary people over the centuries.
CLAS 335 - The Roman Empire: Rulers and Ruled
Gen Ed Tier II Humanities
Description: This course explores the Roman empire from the perspectives both of the ruling Romans, and of the non-Roman peoples they ruled in Italy and beyond.

CLASSICS TUITION VOUCHERS
Classics will be offering $500 tuition vouchers for each of the Classics courses offered by Dr. Langley through the Arizona in Orvieto study abroad program in summer 2020. Students enrolled in these courses should download the Classics Tuition Voucher Agreement Form at the bottom of this page and submit it no later than 5:00pm on March 10, 2020.
CLASSICS NEED-BASED TRAVEL GRANTS
Awards typically range from $500 - $1,000, depending on the availability of funds.
Eligibility: Open to all students enrolled in at least one Classics course offered through Arizona in Orvieto, and who meet the minimum eligibility requirements for need-based UA Study Abroad Travel Grants. The Study Abroad Office will automatically determine your eligibility for the scholarship upon starting a study abroad application and selecting a Classics course offered through Arizona in Orvieto. Students with the following qualifications will be given priority: Classics and/or Religious Studies majors or minors, and/or students enrolled in Greek or Latin language courses.
CLASSICS MERIT-BASED TRAVEL GRANTS
Awards typically range from $500 - $1,000, depending on the availability of funds.
Eligibility: Open to all students with a minimum 3.5 GPA and enrolled in at least one Classics course offered through Arizona in Orvieto. Update: Classics and/or Religious Studies majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply.
Students with the following qualifications will be given priority: Classics and/or Religious Studies majors or minors, and/or students enrolled in Greek or Latin language courses.

SILLC GLOBAL AWARD
Application Deadline: January 22, 2020
Funding Amounts: Ranges from $1,500 - $2,000
Eligibility: Must be a declared major in Classics, Religious Studies or other SILLC discipline, and attending a UA-approved study abroad program such as Arizona in Orvieto (Italy).
