Words from previous award recipients:
Julian Thies (Classics and Physiology double major), Winter Session Award Winner for Classics Language Tuition Classical Greek 101 Scholarship:
"Within the catalog of Greek literature, I particularly love epic poetry, with the Iliad being a personal favourite, and also love drama, particularly tragedy. I would love to be able to read these various works in the source language. Another major interest of mine with Greek would be the New Testament, as I have a strong connection to that work, and being able to read that in Greek would be an incredible experience for me.”
Jacqueline Valenzuela-Gil (Classics & Pre-Business double major), Winter Session Award Winner for Classics Language Tuition Latin 101 Scholarship:
“I would love to learn Latin because of its connection to other languages. I’ve been taking a Classical Mythology class during the Fall semester, and during the class we’ve been taught a few Latin words. I genuinely think it's super interesting to see how Latin words have been integrated into languages like English, and the fact that learning Latin could help me better understand English is something that’s really appealing to me. I am also someone who's interested in learning more languages throughout my life and I really believe that learning Latin could help me with that.”
