Graduate Student Educational and Professional Development Fund

Purpose

The Department of Classics has established a Graduate Student Educational and Professional Development Fund. All current Classics M.A. students are eligible to apply for funding to support professional, educational, and outreach activities related to their graduate studies. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to: participation in, or hosting of conferences; courses or seminars offered outside the UA; fieldwork; internships; study/travel abroad programs; outreach efforts on campus, or at the local or state level; research closely tied to the M.A. thesis.*  Funds cannot be used for subsidizing graduate school applications.

Criteria

Classics graduate students should consult faculty members with expertise relevant to their proposals before submitting their applications. Each proposal will be judged on its merits, and its relevance and importance for the applicant’s graduate program of study in Classics will be taken into account. Each applicant’s academic status in the M.A. program and progress toward degree will also be considered. Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek funding for their projects from other sources (e.g. UA Graduate College, UA Graduate and Professional Student Council, extramural scholarships and grants, etc.) in addition to the GSEPDF.
