Classics will again be offering Intensive Latin and Intensive Greek in Summer 2018. For registration information, visit:  http://summer-winter.arizona.edu/

Summer Session I, June 4 - July 5, 2018
Intensive Latin 112 (Moreland & Fleischer), 9:00-12:45 daily, 6 units.  In this course, students will explore the entire first year of Latin, including grammar, syntax, morphology, and vocabulary, working up to a solid reading level by the end of the first Summer Session.  This course requires no prior knowledge of Latin or any other language!

Summer Session II, July 9 - August 8, 2018
Intensive Latin 212 (Prose and Poetry), 9:00-12:45 daily, 6 units.  In LAT 212, students will read extensively in Latin Prose (Livy, Pliny the Younger, and Bede) and Latin Poetry (Vergil's Aeneid), becoming solid readers of both Latin prose and poetry.

Students may enroll for one or both sessions. Those who successfully complete Session II will be prepared to enroll in upper level undergraduate or perhaps graduate Latin courses. No prior knowledge of Latin is necessary to enroll in Latin 112, but previous foreign language experience may be helpful.

Greek 112 will be offered in a fully-online asynchronous format.  Students work at their own pace and on their own schedule, using the Alpha to Omega textbook, video lectures and homework explanations using the "Panopto" video software, and are supported with regular 1-on-1 videoconferencing sessions with the instructors.  After completing the course, students have all the tools they need to start working through almost any ancient Greek text.  Typically, follow-up courses (including UA's GRK 201) start reading Plato, the New Testament, and Homer.

Special scholarships are available for students who will enroll in GRK 201 this fall!
