Congratulations to the 2022 General Arizona in Orvieto Classics Award Winners:  Méshelle Aaliyah Rhianon Francis-Magloire, Leila Rosin, and Katelin Rugg.

The award winners are featured below with excerpts of why they personally want to study abroad.

Méshelle Aaliyah Rhianon Francis-Magloire:  "I am excited to study abroad so that I can learn and experience another culture to gain life long memories, knowledge, and a visual/kinetic association of what I will be learning in the courses I am enrolled in. I will be taking the Classics 222 course. I am interested in taking this course because I will be able to see art first hand and the history and inspiration behind it."

Leila Rosin: "I am honored to be the recipient of the very generous Arizona in Orvieto Classics Award. I am looking forward to participating in the Orvieto Summer Abroad Program this summer. What could be better than exploring Italy and experiencing the culture and history first hand? The CLAS 222 course offers an invaluable opportunity to learn by being immersed in the culture and history of Italy. Italy is a country with a long and influential history that I cannot wait to learn more about as I explore Italy with UA Abroad. Without a doubt, CLAS 222 is a course that immediately caught my attention because it offers a way to learn through exploring history. The CLAS 222 course summed up almost every reason I wanted to participate in the Arizona in Orvieto program. The CLAS 222 course provides us with the opportunity to learn in an engaging way as we visit museums, towns, and galleries throughout Italy. The mythology component of CLAS 222 is also intriguing because mythology is so relevant to Roman history. By learning more about mythology I will deepen my understanding of the formation and foundation of Rome and how mythology remains relevant today. I hope this course will provide me with a depth of understanding that opens my eyes to how history is still alive and relevant in our everyday lives. I am looking forward to a fun and educational summer in Orvieto! Thank you again for selecting me as the recipient of the Arizona in Orvieto Classics Award. Additionally, thank you to Dr. Robert Stephan and Dr. Cynthia White who both inspired my interest in the Study Abroad Program in Italy by offering very interesting courses relating to Italy at the UA."

Katelin Rugg: "I wanted to study abroad because I think it is a valuable and fun college experience! I also love to travel and the Orvieto, Italy program sounded like the perfect opportunity to study abroad and explore a new place. I will be taking the CLAS 222 class and I am so excited to learn more about ancient Roman and Greek artwork and how artists were impacted throughout the ages!  Again, thank you so much for considering me for this award!"
